Books 4 Babies
| Books for Babies
is a very successful project begun in 2003 by Nelson
Public Libraries, fully funded by the Rotary Club of
Whakatu for the first five years, and partially funded
since 2008. Every baby born in Nelson hospital receives a black and white board book, with information encouraging parents to read to their babies and become members of the library. Staff at the maternity ward of Nelson Hospital distribute around 100 books and pamphlets a month to newborn babies and are very supportive of the project. |
